Long Bio
Gregg Ward is an electrifying keynote speaker, award-winning and bestselling author, and executive coach renowned for his transformative approach to self-respect and personal growth. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Respectful Leadership and The Respect for All Foundation.
Gregg is the son of the famous sportswriter, Gene Ward, and as a child he was powerfully influenced by the sports legends of his day including Joe Namath, Arthur Ashe, Billie Jean King, and Muhammad Ali who taught him life lessons about resiliency, respect and hard work.
Eventually, while working as an actor, writer and director in New York, Gregg received an offer that changed his life – to pioneer a groundbreaking training program for the NYPD that leveraged his skills in live interactive theater and improvisation. Since then, he has delivered over 2,500 keynotes, seminars, and programs, helping individuals and organizations move from outdated, command-and-control/carrot-and-stick leadership cultures to more inclusive, empowering, engaging, and psychologically safe working environments.
A writer like his dad, Gregg’s second book, the business fable The Respectful Leader was published by Wiley in 2016, was immediately named a Best Book of the Month by Amazon, went on to become a bestseller within a week, and was honored with a Gold Medal in the prestigious Axiom Business Book Awards competition. Gregg also worked as a freelance journalist on assignment throughout Europe for BBC Radio, The Times, Scotland on Sunday and The List Magazine. He’s most proud of having covered the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and during his keynotes, he often displays a small piece of it he recovered at the time.
An executive coach long before it was trendy, Gregg has worked with leaders at many Fortune 100 & 500 companies like ADP, Booz Allen Hamilton, Intel, Kaiser Permanente, Qualcomm and the US Navy, helping them turn obstacles into opportunities.
Gregg’s popular TEDx talk, Confessions of an Accidental Killer, shares his deeply personal journey of overcoming immense regret and discovering the power of self-respect—an experience that inspired his most recent keynote, Stop Holding Yourself Back.
His engaging, interactive style invites audiences to reclaim their confidence, embrace self-respect, and unlock their full potential, creating lasting personal and professional transformation. Known for his candor and relentless pursuit of growth, Gregg’s approach to cultural change and leadership has inspired thousands to break through limiting beliefs and step into their true power.
Short Bio
Stage Intro
Now, it’s my pleasure to introduce Gregg Ward.
Gregg tells me he feels like he’s lived four different lives. In his first life he was a professional actor, writer, director and producer in New York City and London.
In his second life, he worked as a specialist trainer for the New York City Police Department. In his third life he was a freelance journalist on assignment throughout Europe for BBC-Radio and other UK media.
Gregg’s latest and longest life is what he’s doing now: serving as a global thought leader and speaker, consultant, facilitator, and executive coach on Leadership, Respect and creating Actively Respectful Cultures.
Gregg is also the Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Respectful Leadership and the author of the bestselling, award-winning business fable, The Respectful Leader.
Lastly, before he begins, here’s one fun fact about Gregg…
...he‘s a Little League Umpire in his spare time and he‘s found – and maybe you‘ve found this too – that the kids on the field usually behave like responsible, respectful little adults, and the adults in the stands tend to behave like big, disrespectful children.
Let’s please welcome global thought leader, executive coach, and courageous umpire, Mr. Gregg Ward!
AV Needs
Video: Gregg customizes every talk he delivers and is usually still tinkering with it shortly before he goes on. For this reason, Gregg prefers to run his presentation from his own laptop (PC), connecting via HDMI port to whatever display system, such as a projector or flat screen monitor, that you’re using. Occasionally, his presentations include audio and video, but he’ll alert your AV team of that in advance. As an extra precaution, Gregg always brings a backup copy of his presentation on a thumb drive. If it’s absolutely necessary for him to deliver his presentation using your onsite computers, he is happy to email it 48 hours in advance.
Mics: For groups larger than 40, Gregg prefers either a lavalier or over-the-ear wireless microphone. But Gregg is a very accomplished singer, so he‘s also comfortable with a wireless handheld mic. However, since he’s very energetic and mobile, and engages heartily with the audience (sometimes going down into the crowd!) a locked-down, wired mic is not recommended.
Confidence Monitor: Gregg is fine delivering his talk with or without a confidence monitor, but prefers to use one if it’s available.
